So there he was, last day of the regular gun season with almost all hope lost of getting that monster buck. He was ready to call it a season at around 2:30 when he headed for home. He usually hunted in a party but most of the guys quit and went home to mend their wounds and rest up after a long week of beating the brush and coming up empty. Being the adamant hunter that he is and never giving up until the last shred of light was gone, Jared decided that one more section had his name on it. Well that last section he hit finally paid off.
He made his move at 3:15pm and slowly walked to his shooting post. After about a half hour wait he started to notice a number of does heading his way. Then, like a ghost in the darkness,(or rather a low light) he appeared. A massive rack stands among many does. A very large body that was fit to carry such a heavy rack.
It was now after 4 and light was fading fast. The does had broken off there path and were about 150 yards away. The buck than began to follow them. Jared had figured the distance right and knew he wasn’t getting any closer. So he lifted his gun aimed near the top of his back and… Bango!!! One shot, One Kill. Nice job Jared, and good luck to all others who stick it out to the end.
